Hallo, my name is Ivan Stankovic and I come from Serbia. I’m currently an EVS (European voluntary service) volunteer in Krško, Slovenia. I’m working in Mladinski center Krsko on a project called Urban life. Five months have passed already on my EVS project and I can say that it has been an incredible journey so far…

Living in a foreign country with different culture, traditions and customs, away from your family and friends can look scary. I am very lucky to be the part of MC team because they are functioning like family. Everyone here is nice and kind and it is my pleasure to work with such great people.

Taking this step and become an EVS volunteer will definitely take you out of your comfort zone, but this will help you grow a lot. You will actually have the opportunity to meet new people, make new friends, travel, experience different cultures and traditions, learn or improve a foreign language, increase your skills, discover your passions, put your ideas into practice, increase your confidence etc.

The most important thing is to be open and willing to meet new people. So don’t stay at home: go to parties, go to events, meet friends of your new friends, and don’t say ‘no’ to invitations. You will see that soon enough you will be surrounded by amazing people and you will feel thankful for having them around. At least that’s how I feel.

I did not even imagine that EVS could bring me such joyfulness, it have even bigger meaning. New vision, perception and acceptance of life. It gave me bounced step, for the continuation of my life. I would suggest everyone to try EVS because it’s a life changing experience.

Be open-minded and enjoy all the aspects of the project.

The project is financed from Erasmus+.
